Is a Jean Monnet Network project
co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
The project brings together VET providers and higher education institutions from four European
countries and one candidate country to promote EU studies in vocational education and training.
At a time when Euroscepticism, political disengagement and misinformation are increasing,
BELONGtoEU works to reduce the perceived distance between EU institutions and citizens, starting
from schools and teachers.
Our objectives
BELONGtoEU aims to:
- strengthen teachers’ knowledge and competences on EU-related topics
- support VET teachers in integrating EU studies into their teaching activities
- increase students’ awareness of EU values, rights and opportunities
- foster a stronger sense of belonging to the European Union
- promote democratic participation and active citizenship among young people
The project focuses on teachers as key multipliers, empowering them to act as catalysts of change in their classrooms and communities.
Main steps
BELONGtoEU combines research, training and practice through a participatory and evidence-based approach.
Key activities include:
needs analysis and collection of best practices in EU education
training sessions and workshops for VET teachers
development of a multidisciplinary and open-access e-Toolkit on EU studies
mobility experiences for teachers and trainers, including job shadowing, co-teaching and study visits
piloting and assessment of innovative teaching methodologies in VET schools
All project results will be freely accessible and designed to be easily transferable to other educational contexts.

The project’s impact goes beyond the partnership, thanks to collaboration with sister projects, European networks and stakeholders at local, national and EU level.
A European network for education
BELONGtoEU is implemented by a consortium of six organisations that brings together VET schools and a university with strong expertise in EU studies, ensuring a balanced mix of academic knowledge, practical experience and innovation in teaching.
